Roses are often linked to love, sensuality, fertility, secrecy, mystique, and symbolise achievement, perfection, elegance, and femininity. Across world religions, they appear as symbols of miraculous love. Their petals represent humanity’s evolution — for me, that equals women, from delicate bud to full bloom, petal by petal. While painting roses, women’s faces emerged from the petals. These works are my husband’s favourites; he believes they reflect diversity. I hope you see what we see.
